Bed Bug Pest Control Manchester & Nashua, NH

If you were to take a look at the map of New Hampshire bed bug reports on The Bedbug Registry, you might notice something a little disturbing: by far the hottest hot spot for bed bug activity in the state is centered along a 20 mile stretch of the Everett Turnpike, between Manchester and Nashua. While the city of Portsmouth and the coast to the south has had nearly as many bed bug sightings, that is probably cold comfort for the many inhabitants of Manchester, Merrimack, Nashua, and other nearby localities who are struggling with serious bed bug infestations.

For several years now, the Manchester/Boston area has been making annual appearances in the top 50 list of the most bed bug-infested cities in the country. The fact that the relatively tiny Manchester gets lumped in with the much larger city of Boston is just one of many clues that New Hampshire is becoming a bustling metropolis for bed bugs.

All of this should make it clear that, if your home or business in the Manchester/Nashua area is infested with bed bugs, you are most certainly not alone. If you want to know more about your area’s struggle with bed bugs, scroll down to see just a few of the recent news articles that have chronicled Southeastern New Hampshire’s bed bug woes. If you’re ready to evict your unwanted, blood-hungry tenants, read on to find contact information, ratings, and reviews of some of the best bed bug exterminations in Manchester and Nashua.

Manchester & Nashua Bed Bugs in the News

“Tenants, landlords trumped by persistent bedbugs” – New Hampshire Union Leader, 8 October 2014. The Union Leader interviewed a Manchester woman who, after a year of trying to fight bed bugs with everything from pesticides to Pine-Sol, moved out of apartment with her boyfriend and pit bull, and into a tent. The woman described how, despite her boyfriend being bitten so badly that he would scratch until he bled, her landlord didn’t do enough to actually get rid of the bed bugs. However, the article does a good job of illustrating how no one person is completely to blame for a bed bug problem. In this particular case, the problem began when the woman’s roommate brought in a mattress abandoned on a curb. Never, ever bring used mattresses or other bedding from the curbside.

“Bed Bugs Force NH Camp to Cancel Remainder of Season” – CBS Boston, 10 July 2014. Camp Spaulding, a summer camp located near Concord in the small community of Penacook, was forced to close after staff discovered bed bugs in two camp cabins. Managers at the camp reported the incident to the Concord Health Department, and after extensive consultation, decided to close the camp so that it could undergo a months-long treatment for bed bugs. Parts of the treatment will include the steam cleaning of structural surfaces, sealing the walls and floors, and replacing all bed frames and mattresses.

“Manchester bed bug outbreak is hard to kill” – New Hampshire Union Leader, 29 November 2013. Manchester is in the midst of a full-scale bed bug war, after discovering bed bugs in a total of 33 units spread across three apartment different buildings. All of the afflicted buildings are managed by the Manchester Housing and Redevelopment Authority, which rents the units out to elderly and disabled persons. According to the MHRA, the organization spent $119,600 treating bed bug infestations in the previous fiscal year, and approximately $230,000 the year before. According to the MHRA’s executive director, treating the current outbreak will cost $850 per infested unit, which gives a total cost of $28,000 for the current round of treatment.

“Bedbugs just keep on biting in Nashua” – New Hampshire Union Leader, 6 June 2013. According to pest control providers and experts in New Hampshire, Nashua is part of a bed bug epidemic that is exploding across the state. The manager of Nashua’s Code Enforcement Department told the Union Leader that they are currently dealing with bed bug infestations in somewhere between 100 and 150 buildings in the city. Many of those infestations actually involve multiple residency units in a single building, meaning that potentially several hundred (or even thousand) individual residences are involved.
