Bed Bug Pest Control Miami

There’s a lot to love about Miami: the weather, the beaches, the nightlife. Unfortunately, the city has been garnering some unwanted attention over the past few years. The city of Miami has regularly made the list of the top 50 list of most bed bug-infested cities in America. Most recently, the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area was ranked as the 33rd worst city for bed bug reports. While this is an improvement from its previous ranking of 22nd, based on data from 2013, the city hadn’t ranked on the list at all as recently as 2010.

So while there are signs that bed bug numbers may be dropping slightly in and around Miami, the issue is still plenty serious. The Bed Bug Registry, lists several hundred reports of bed bugs sightings in hotels in the Miami area, meaning that many local residents have unknowingly brought the unwanted hitchhikers home with them. If you have discovered bed bugs in your home or business in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area, the above should make it obvious that you are not alone.

In addition, the Veteran’s organization that had placed the residents there did so in violation of zoning laws, as the building in Pompano Beach was only zoned for heavy business use.

“New Page Turned in Story of the Bed Bug” – CBS4 News, 9 December 2014. The Ethel M. Gordon library in Oakland Park recently had to be closed for five days, after bed bugs were discovered on the premises. A library patron using a computer had informed a librarian that he felt strangely itchy, which led to bed bugs being found in the upholstery of several chairs. The city subsequently spent more than $6,800 on extermination services, and had all of the library’s chairs replaced. Despite the high cost, the pest control company that handled the extermination guaranteed the service’s effectiveness for only 2 months.
