Office of Tax and Revenue started their weekend early when they were sent home after bed bugs were found in the building. “Senate Undergoes Emergency Cleaning After Woman Drags in Bedbugs” – The Daily Caller, 23 July 2014. While many might joke that the Senate is full of vermin, not many people were joking when the real thing showed up. During a committee hearing on the sixth floor of the Dirksen Senate Office Building, an attendee noticed bed bugs crawling on another attendee. They were also discovered in a nearby restroom, which was sealed off with caution tape. A Senate aide said that many of the staff who have offices in the building have been “pretty much on lockdown, scared to leave their offices.”
